Marcel Dupré improvise un tryptique à Saint-Patrice de Rouen, une sonate à Fraumüster à Zürich et une Évocation de l'Ascension et de la Pentecôte à Saint-Sulpice.
Le 13 mai 1971, les Amis de l'Orgue avaient organisé un concert à Saint-Sulpice. Au cours de celui-ci, Rolande Falcinelli interprétait des œuvres de Widor, Dupré et d'elle-même. Cette soirée s'était achevée par la dernière improvisation de concert de Marcel Dupré.
Voici ce qu'en écrivit Sylviane Falcinelli, peu de temps après cette improvisation :
« Le Maître, le visage détendu et souriant (comment se douter qu'il allait disparaître si peu de temps après), examina le thème que lui avait préparé Rolande Falcinelli et lui dit : « Il me plaît, ton thème. » Puis, s'adressant à sa chère disciple et à Mlle Françoise Renet (elles s'étaient placées de chaque côté du Maître), il dit : « Tirez-moi tous les jeux, mes enfants, on va commencer dans la force. […] »
